Thank you for your opinion on Appen. ???? Is this the right Appen location? connect.appen.com/ But again, this is just a general statement based on my opinion, as it is not ethically or legally appropriate for me to suggest that it is safe for someone to sign something (even if the implication is based on my own experience or someone else`s). I would go with Appen`s official statement, if it`s not an official appen.com or connect-mail.appen.com email address, I`d hesitate to trust him. If you have been redirected to another email, it wouldn`t hurt to contact them via their official email address and confirm the legitimacy of other correspondence. 🙂 Hello, two days ago I sent a question about signing the Master Service Agreement, which was sent to me by appen (from the official address) and related to two other experiences (Jane`s and Nesma`s). I saw an online message on social media yesterday saying that I work with Appen from home. 22.27 per hour. I was asked to get PM for more information. That`s what I did.
The lady asked me if I had Google Hangouts to interview the hiring manager. So she said she would give him my information for the interview. Within minutes, I had a request. So we preceded the interview. He asked me all the normal questions. I answered. He told me about the position and asked if it was something I was interested in. I said yes, of course. So he told me to stay on the line while he got approval from the human resources department. I waited about 10 minutes and then he came back online and said they decided to offer me the job based on my experience. He said all the equipment would be delivered. Apple PC, printer, laminator, iPhone, fax machine, scanner.
He said that all software would have to be purchased by themselves, but that they would send me the money in advance. I was already skeptical because I had searched for this guy`s name on LinkedIn and he said he was the CEO of Appen. Which CEO actually does the interviews for a work from home from a data entry position. But again, I need a job, so I always communicate with this guy. Then he tells me that the company also helps its employees build their credit by paying off debts or erasing bad credits. I secretly prayed that this would be legitimate. Then he told me that all my equipment would be shipped on Monday and that I would do 1 week of training with this guy, the CEO*. He asked me to make a list of my debts and send it to him. I created an Excel document with the names of all debts and the balance owing. I did not provide any account number.
So let`s move on to today. He sent me a message asking how I was. Then I asked if I had opened any to buy on one of my credit cards. I panicked. I asked him to show me his driver`s license and Appen wanted to prove that he was not cheating on me. Then he was insulted. He said he would never fool anyone. Life was too short and all he cared about was helping people and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. Then he asked me if I was still willing to work with them. I said yes and played along. He then asked me to send pictures of each credit card. Say something! I told him that if it was a real job, I would work for them, but I didn`t need them to do anything with my loan debt.
I would take care of it myself. He said OK. I have transcripts of all the conversations. I contacted the CEO of appen on Linkedin to ask if he was one and the same man. I am still waiting for an answer. His profile on LinkedIn says he lives in Sydney, Australia and the guy I talk to says he lives in Maryland. In between, I contacted my person, who posted about the work. They have to work together because I felt like I was talking to the same person. I`m scared now because I gave this guy my personal contact information. I now think it`s a big scam, but we left it with him when he shipped my gear on Monday. And would send me money to buy all the software.
He asked me what my daily deposit limit was. I told him 10,000, but I would only accept funds by PayPal until I had an Appen integration package in hand. He said OK. I said this because I knew he would ask me for my routing numbers next. I wasted 2 hours with this person and now I`m freaking out because what can he do with the information he has. I had hoped it was legitimate, but seriously, how could it be? I apologize again, as I have already said to Omobola, I know that my comments are not very helpful or reassuring. Not being legally qualified in this area, although it would not be fair for me to suggest otherwise. I`m just wondering if you`re hired by appen, ask for your bank account information including username and passwords? This is actually related to their field: appen.com hello other companies that hire work-from-home professionals in India and are legit? I received an email from Appen that led me to connect.appen.com/.
He asked normal questions and then started asking for my credentials. It was fishy, so I didn`t give it to them. Then I found out it`s not even appen.com. If you look at this page: appen.com/careers/ then click on one of the categories, you will be connect.appen.com. This just happened to me, except he claims they need my username and password for my credit card account. You must think I`m stupid! I told them that some of the claims he made violated what was on the website and that it was a red flag. I said I have no problem paying for my purchases myself, but I`ll do some research where I`m really good. Immediately, I put a notification on my account. I haven`t given them routing numbers or credit card numbers or anything, but I`m worried about what they can do with the information they actually have. And it`s true, as you mentioned, that contracts and terms and conditions are updated regularly, usually because one of these invisible responsibilities caused a problem and forced them to add a new condition. Coming from a management background, one of our “batras” was, so to speak, that “people dictate policy.” There have always been policies and procedures that have been considered arbitrary and unnecessary for new employees, but we could certainly point to a specific case where we needed to modify or create policies and procedures to address this issue in case (or when) it happens again in the future. We are very sorry to hear about your negative experience with Appen! Do not hesitate to contact us at feedback@appen.com; We would love to hear more information about your situation in the hope that it will help us improve our processes.
– HR Manager If it`s okay, I should continue. The website has been appen.com/careers/. Do you have another program in mind that can make me more money and is more based on me not looking for these jobs anymore? Hi Nesma, can you provide more details? Did you also receive the contract from a verified Appen email? either @appen.com or @connect-mail.appen.com? Hi, when I applied online for a job online appen after checking ac-email, phone number and smartphone, they asked me for my passport details, tax card details and license with my account details (maybe b not password and username, etc. because I stopped there and didn`t go to the next page)),. Hi Omobola, these are great questions. What I can say is that Appen is legit and I haven`t heard of any legal issues (other than fake crooks who have illegally impersonated Appen and impersonate other companies offering remote jobs). However, I am not a lawyer.
